Porsche offered Amazon Green Metallic on '92 and '93 968's (I've heard of a '94
that was special ordered this way, too). It's definitely one of those
"morphing" colors that you really need to see in person to
appreciate. Most pictures - 'specially my quite amateur photography -
don't do it justice.
Most common comment... "It looks blue!?!?" Most of the time I
do just call it dark blue due to public opinion. However, there are a few
people that comment that it's a beautiful green. The debate between BLUE
or GREEN leans mostly toward blue... but it's one
of those colors that most everyone would agree is quite unique.
Actually, the name itself is the best description... AMAZON GREEN - just like
the thick foliage along the Amazon river, so thick that the light is blocked
out, thus taking on a shade of blue, and the bit of light that does filter
through reveals the true greens below. Or possibly, the reflection of the
green foliage on the dark blue of the Amazon river. Something along those
lines - does this offer any help in describing what most would say is a misnamed
color?
