The fog and driving light assembly is pretty easy to figure out, once you get
past those vicious little bumperettes! European 968's don't have these,
but I'm not exactly sure what's in their place - it's orange and looks just like
part of the turn signal assembly.
What I found that
works good is to take a small flat screw driver and insert it toward the top of
the black cap/plug. The side's don't have too much room, however, the top
will allow the cap to be pried off the safest way to keep from damaging anything
(leaving traces like scuff marks or scratches). From there, it's best to
use a 5/16 nut driver (or socket of some sort) - kind of nifty how Porsche used
English sizes for this American specified bumper thing. The fog light
assembly also uses this size for the one whole bolt that's holding it in place.
The fog light assembly
comes out very easily. Remove the one bolt, then slide that end out.
The other end is held in place by a medium sized tab (protrusion to the right in
this picture). The two large Philips looking screws are for aiming, not
removal. The lights are aimed as a set, so what I found works best is to
aim the fog light section for proper height (somewhere under the main head
lights) and then use the driving light section to aim from side to side (line up
with head lights).
This
thumbnail shows what to expect on the inside. There are spring clips that
hold the H1 (driving light bulb) and H3 (fog light bulb) in place. Just as
with the main head lights, the bulbs have built in tabs that only let them fit
one way. This part is pretty self explanatory, as well as putting
everything back together. One note, be sure to check the aim BEFORE
putting the bumperettes back on.
